Amad Diallo is entering a crucial pre-season for Man Utd, and it has not started well.

The young sensation, who has struggled to nail down a spot in Erik ten Hag's squad since joining the Red Devils from Atalanta, suffered an injury in Saturday's pre-season showdown with Arsenal in New Jersey.

The 21-year-old Ivory Coast star went down after 59 minutes clutching his ankle, despite no other players being near him.

He later left MetLife Stadium on crutches with his short-term future in doubt, and his chances of impressing ten Hag immediately compromised.

Diallo spent last season enjoying an impressive loan spell at Sunderland, but is hoping to prove he is good enough to fight for a place at Old Trafford.

Fabrizio Romano REVEALS Man Utd transfer plan

While there is no definitive update on who will be next to arrive at Man Utd this summer, at least ten Hag and co DO have a clear plan according to Fabrizio Romano.

With Mason Mount and Andre Onana already through the door, Romano says Atalanta's Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund is now the top priority with the Red Devils expected to make their opening bid imminently.

Once Hojlund is (hopefully) secured, ten Hag will then look to add another midfielder to his squad, in the shape of Fiorentina's Moroccan star Sofyan Amrabat.

That midfield of course is going to be pretty crowded, and exits will be inevitable. Top of the list per Romano is Brazilian star Fred. He is drawing interest from Fulham and from the Saudi Pro League.

Decision on Greenwood future becomes CLEARER

The future of Mason Greenwood is gradually becoming clearer with Man Utd coach Erik ten Hag admitting he will not make the final decision.

Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in October 2022, but in February this year the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges.

The promising forward though remains out in the cold having not played since January 2022. Now the club are set to decide on his future - notably whether it lies at Old Trafford or elsewhere.

"It's a club decision and of course, I shared my opinions but it's a club decision and we all have to accept that," said ten Hag on the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

Asked if he would like to keep Greenwood, he added: "I can't say so much about it but I shared my opinion about it, so let's see what's going to happen."

Greenwood is under contract through to 2025.

Man Utd Amrabat DEADLINE looms with all parties keen on deal

Man Utd are still interested in Fiorentina's Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and there is a deadline attached to negotiations.

The Viola would like to resolve things by the time Amrabat returns for pre-season on Monday, and reports from Italy say things are not that far away.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Amrabat wants the move and that personal terms will not be an issue. All that remains is for United to pony up the 25-30m offer that the Viola want.

Gazzetta goes on to say that all parties are keen to get a deal done. Watch this space...

Mbappe IS FOR SALE as Man Utd and co on RED ALERT

Man Utd continue to search for a new striker, and on Friday evening we got confirmation that the biggest fish of all is available.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that PSG are putting Kylian Mbappe up for sale after leaving him out of their squad for the pre-season tour of Japan.

There remain massive question marks about whether United would get involved in a Mbappe auction - Real Madrid remain hot favourites for his signature.

But if Madrid do not play ball with PSG, the French giants could be left trying to sell him elsewhere.

We reported earlier in the summer that Man Utd takeover hopeful Sheikh Jassim of Qatar had talks earlier this year about a potential Mbappe swoop.

Barcelona make DECISION about Man Utd target de Jong

Barcelona look to have hammered the final nail in the coffin of Manchester United's Frenkie de Jong ambitions by naming the Dutchman one of their club captains.

United were linked with a move for De Jong for all of last summer before eventually giving up and signing Casemiro from Real Madrid for €70.7 million instead, but speculation they could go back in for him remains.

De Jong and United manager Erik ten Hag won the Dutch domestic double together in 2019, and the latter has made no secret of his desire to be reunited. But De Jong looks like he is at Barca for the long haul after they made him a club captain.
