'Already done more than Mudryk!': Man Utd fans react to Van de Beek comeback goal
Manchester United fans could not contain their excitement after seeing Donny van de Beek return to the first team in goalscoring fashion during their friendly win over Lyon.
The Dutchman had been out of action since January with a knee injury and has been considered a likely candidate to leave Old Trafford this summer, having made just 60 appearances since joining in 2020.
But the 26-year-old let out a ferocious roar as he netted the only goal of the game with a well-struck volley just four minutes after coming on at the break.

And the delight was echoed by United fans across social media, who were overjoyed at seeing the midfielder finally back on the pitch and showcasing his ability.
The £30 million man is still likely to be on the fringes of Erik ten Hag’s side this season if he does indeed remain at the club this summer but the return to the United team and the scoresheet will have done his first-team chances no harm.
The friendly was also the first opportunity for fans to see new signing Mason Mount in action following his switch from Chelsea earlier this month, although he had a quiet game as United fielded two different line-ups in each half.
United youngsters excite supporters
Among the joy for Van De Beek, United supporters also had strong words of praise for their young talent on display, with Kobbie Mainoo, Matej Kovar and Daniel Gore in particular being considered standout performers.
Czech goalkeeper Kovar was praised for his ability on the ball, with supporters enthused over the prospect of having another young ball-playing shotstopper to add to Andre Onana, who will likely join from Inter Milan this week.

Matej Kovar is TOP. United should not be looking for a number two goalkeeper. He should stay as the back up to Onana

Gore, meanwhile, provided the assist Van de Beek’s goal and was impressive throughout, prompting fans to believe he was the next best thing out of United’s academy.
I’m going to say it now. Dan Gore is the biggest dark horse of our academy. Ik people know him. But they don’t realise actually how good he is

However, most the plaudits were for match-winner Van de Beek, with supporters sharing in his relief as well as using the opportunity to take aim at some rival stars who have yet to deliver for their clubs.
