Nottingham Forest are 'encouraged' by Callum Hudson-Odoi's desire to swap Stamford Bridge for the City Ground, according to a report.

The 22-year-old is one of Chelsea's great nearly men. Once valued in excess of €70 million while being courted by Bayern Munich, Hudson-Odoi could now be on his way out of London for less than €10m.

A talented winger, the Chelsea man has seen his career hampered by injuries. He couldn't recapture his previous form levels on loan at Bayer Leverkusen last season, and he is now convinced that he needs to depart Stamford Bridge for a fresh start.

Indeed, he hasn't been training with his Blues teammates at all under Mauricio Pochettino as the expectation has always been that he would move. Until now, however, nothing has materialised on that front. Close to a Fulham switch a few weeks ago, the talks seemingly came to nothing.

Now, Nottingham Forest are in negotiations with Chelsea over the former wonderkid, and a deal may finally be in the offing.

Positive talks

That is at least according to Sky Sports, which claims that "Forest have been encouraged by Hudson-Odoi's desire to make the move, and personal terms are not expected to be an issue."

However, there is still a need for patience because the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee or the structure of any potential deal. Moreover, other clubs are also still in the race to sign Hudson-Odoi, the report claims.

In addition to Fulham, Everton were previously considered to be interested in the English winger, but whether that interest remains is not known.

Chelsea have already done business with Nottingham Forest this window, loaning Andrey Santos to the East Midlands in a move that is already being criticised by Blues fans as Forest are now also trying to sign Leicester's Wilfred Ndidi, who will rival Santos for playing time.
