Chelsea are seeking to get two midfield transfers into the club, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that the club are “actively working” to strike a deal for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

The Blues have spent the summer chasing Moises Caicedo as their primary midfield option and the football transfer specialist has indicated that any deal for USMNT player Adams would not see them pull out of the race for the Ecuador international.

Indeed, it has been reported that Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Caicedo, if anything, as they are going in with a bid of €90 million that is closer to the €100m valuation that Brighton have put on the player.

Romano reports that the Blues are also ready to drive a deal for Adams – and reveals that they have already started work on the case of the 24-year-old defensive midfielder, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €38m.

He took to Twitter to report: “Understand Chelsea are now actively working on Tyler Adams deal — talks ongoing between clubs and personal terms being discussed.

“Again, not linked with Caicedo.

“Separate deal as Moises insists since Sunday: he didn’t play as he wants to leave and join Chelsea.”

Romano, meanwhile, reports that Italy U21 star Cesare Casadei is close to leaving Chelsea to sign for Leicester on loan for the season.

Chelsea aiming for signings six and seven

Chelsea have already been active in the transfer market this summer, signing five players for fees.

The most expensive of these has been Christopher Nkunku, who arrived for €60m from RB Leipzig, while the only central midfielder they have added to their ranks is Frenchman Lesley Ugochukwu form Rennes. The €27m addition is, however, destined to join Strasbourg on loan.

If Chelsea can land Adams and Caicedo, these players would represent their sixth and seventh major signings of the transfer window.
