Romano gives HUGE Chelsea transfer update and makes 'NO CHANCE' claim
Fabrizio Romano claims that there is 'no chance' that Ivan Fresneda joins Chelsea this summer.
Despite getting relegated with Real Valladolid last season, Ivan Fresneda is regarded as one of the most promising defenders in Spain. The 18-year-old right-back has previously been linked to the likes of Bournemouth and Borussia Dortmund, while Arsenal were arguably the youngster's most high-profile suitors for a while.
It's not hard to see why he is such a hot commodity given that his reported release clause stands at a measly €20 million. More recently, Barcelona have been eyeing the teenager, but head coach Xavi's priority is and will remain to get a deal done for Joao Cancelo.
Indeed, Spanish media recently reported that the Blaugrana hierarchy had actively decided against moving for Fresneda after raising the necessary funds that enable them to go for the Manchester City defender via the sales of Ousmane Dembele and Franck Kessie.
In recent days, reports began linking Chelsea to a surprise move for Fresneda, but Fabrizio Romano has now thrown cold water on these rumours.
Fresneda not heading to Stamford Bridge
The Italian transfer expert has claimed in a recent YouTube video that there is 'no chance' that the Spaniard will join the Blues this summer.
"Ivan Fresneda - many rumours because the player has been on the list of Barcelona for a long time and I always told you: Cancelo is the priority. Fresneda is the secondary option, not the priority."

"Then, for Fresneda [there is] also interest from Sporting. No chance to join - this summer - Chelsea. Chelsea have different strategies, Chelsea are very happy with Malo Gusto, so Fresneda is not part of Chelsea's plans this summer."
"At least as of now, this is Chelsea's position regarding all the rumours and the links with Ivan Fresneda, who is a very talented right-back, but Chelsea have different priorities and strategies."
