Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is adamant that new signing Moises Caicedo will be a hit at Stamford Bridge.

Caicedo signed for the Blues for £115 million last week and made his debut as a substitute in the 3-1 loss to West Ham.

The Ecuadorian looked really uncomfortable and gave away a penalty in the final stages.

But Colwill, who played alongside Caicedo at Brighton last season, backs him to have a great impact on Mauricio Pochettino's side.

"I think anyone that watched him last season knows how good of a player he is," he told talkSPORT. "In my opinion, he was worth every pound that was spent on him.

"I think he is going to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and the world. I don't doubt that.

"Playing with him last season, you just rely on him. Even when I know I have made a mistake, I have always known he is there to cover me in midfield.

"Some of the passes I gave to him were terrible and he still saved me and made me look good!

"Yeah, he is a very good player and him in this team, alongside the other amazing players we have got, is going to work well. I am happy he is here."

Robert Sanchez – another summer arrival from Brighton – will be the man in goal for the season.

Reece James will play at right-back when he is fit, otherwise it will be Frenchman Malo Gusto. The same can be said for Ben Chilwell on the left, who has Marc Cucurella as his understudy.

Wesley Fofana’s ACL injury has ruled him out until 2024 and therefore Thiago Silva will likely be the one turned to on the right of the centre-back pairing, with Levi Colwill on the left.

Caicedo will partner Enzo, with that pair providing a nice balance of defensive discipline, press-resistance and passing range.

Christopher Nkunku could be used as a central striker by Pochettino, but he looks perfectly suited to be deployed in a similar role to the one Dele performed at Spurs, although he is out until January after picking up an injury in pre-season.

Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling is the most likely wing combination, although Noni Madueke will see considerable minutes on the right, while summer signing Nicolas Jackson will lead the line.
