The 23-year-old, who can play anywhere across the forward line, has been heavily linked with an Ajax departure all summer, with multiple clubs from the Premier League expressing their interest in signing him.

The aforementioned three clubs all put their name in the ring as they looked to upgrade their forward line, but eventually decided to pursue other targets.

Man Utd signed Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund for €75 million, Chelsea paid €37m to sign Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, while Arsenal landed Kai Havertz from Chelsea for €75m.

However, Kudus remained a versatile option for all three, with Chelsea in particular still keeping tabs on the Ghanaian as they look for more forward reinforcements.

Bradley Barcola, Rayan Cherki and Brennan Johnson have all been touted as possibilities for the Blues following reports that Kudus was set to join West Ham.

That move is now all but done, with Romano posting on Twitter: “Mo Kudus and West Ham almost there. Final documents being checked, matter of details and then deal closed.”

West Ham’s summer business

After losing captain and star man Declan Rice to Arsenal for €116.6m, West Ham have reinvested that money in James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alavarez and Konstantinos Mavropanos so far this summer.

However, their net spend remains at -€63.6m and they are planning on spending the majority of that money on signing Kudus.

The Hammers are said to have agreed a €44m fee for the Ajax man after they hijacked Brighton & Hove Albion’s agreement to sign the Ghana international.

West Ham will be playing Europa League football this season after winning the UEFA Conference League last campaign. Kudus will join his former Ajax team-mate Alvarez in swapping Amsterdam for the London Stadium this summer.
