Fantasy Premier League 2023-24: The best FPL team for Gameweek 3
Fantasy Premier League 2023-24 has begun and the deadline for Gameweek Three is fast approaching.
As always, FPL managers have a budget of £100 million to spend on 15 players, with 11 starters being supplemented by four bench options every week.
FPL managers must select two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards with their £100m budget, with more emphasis placed on the starting XI.
Here is FootballTransfers’ selection for the best Gameweek Three team in FPL 2023-24.
Using the cheapest options possible for the bench - a £4m goalkeeper, a £4m defender, a £4.4m midfielder and a £4.5m forward - there is £83.1m left for the starting XI.

Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale (£5m)
David Raya has not yet replaced Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal’s number one and given the Gunners host Fulham this weekend, he’s a must-have in FPL.
The Cottagers have lost main man Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, yet they have not added sufficient reinforcements.
They have scored once this season and have only mustered four shots on target in their opening two fixtures. An Arsenal clean sheet is likely.
Defender: Destiny Udogie - Tottenham (£4.5m)
Destiny Udogie remains a £4.5m FPL asset despite Tottenham’s great start to the 2023-24 season.
The Italian defender scored eight goals and provided seven assists in his two seasons at Udinese and it won’t be long before he begins to produce attacking returns like that in the Premier League.
Udogie has been licence to get forward by Ange Postecoglou and an away trip to Bournemouth looks an exciting prospect for a player owned by less than 5% of FPL managers.
Defender: Ben Chilwell - Chelsea (£5.7m)
With news that Reece James could be sidelined for a while through another hamstring injury, Ben Chilwell's attacking input will be vital against Luton Town.
The England international scored seven points in Gameweek One before he blanked against West Ham.
With Mauricio Pochettino using the defender as more of a left winger at the start of a campaign, he is an excellent option against Luton Town despite his £0.2m price increase since the beginning of FPL 2023-24.
Defender: Pervis Estupinan - Brighton (£5.2m)
Like Chilwell, Pervis Estupinan has also seen his price rise by £0.2m this season, but he is simply the best FPL defender at the moment and so he needs to be in your team.
The Ecuador international is owned by more than 50% of FPL managers and for good reason.
He has scored 18 points so far this season (seven vs Luton and 11 vs Wolves) and Brighton host West Ham on Saturday, meaning Estupinan could be in for another big haul.
Midfielder: Martin Odegaard - Arsenal (£8.5m)
Martin Odegaard got off the mark for the season with a calmly-taken penalty to seal a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The Norwegian looks like a great pick against a Fulham side who have conceded 17 shots on target in their opening two fixtures of the new season.
Midfielder: Bukayo Saka - Arsenal (£8.6m)
Bukayo Saka scored 10 FPL points during the opening set of fixtures, which was the highest tally of any midfielder in the game, but he blanked as Palace proved stern opposition for the Gunners.
However, like with Odegaard, the prospect of playing a leaky Fulham backline seems too enticing to miss.
Midfielder: Bryan Mbeumo - Brentford (£6.7m)
Bryan Mbeumo scored a penalty in Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham in Gameweek One before backing that up with two goals and three bonus points in the Bees’ 3-0 win over Fulham in week two.
A home tie against Crystal Palace may be tricky given the Eagles’ resolute defending against Arsenal, but Mbeumo and Brentford are in excellent form so you’d be a fool to doubt them.
Midfielder: Solly March - Brighton (£6.6m)
Solly March is the highest-scoring player in the entirety of FPL so far this season, with three goals and 24 points against Luton and Wolves.
A game against West Ham isn’t usually the most difficult of fixtures for Brighton (they have not lost to the Hammers since their promotion to the Premier League in 2017) and given Roberto De Zerbi’s side have scored the most goals, taken the most shots and created the most xG, March is a great pick.
Forward: Erling Haaland - Man City (£14m)
This is the most obvious choice of all given Manchester City travel to newly-promoted Sheffield United in Gameweek Three. Erling Haaland may have only scored two points versus Newcastle, but he is still a shoe-in and should be given the captain’s armband.
The Norwegian bagged a brace against Burnley on opening night and will be looking to reclaim his position at the top of the Premier League scoring charts this weekend.
Last year, Haaland scored six goals against the newly-promoted clubs and that trend looks set to continue given his double versus Burnley, making this pick very straightforward.
Forward: Nicolas Jackson - Chelsea (£7m)
Nicolas Jackson hasn't been able to score his first competitive Chelsea goal against Liverpool or West Ham, but he looks dangerous and that elusive first strike seems right around the corner.
Chelsea simply must beat Luton on Friday night and as a result, Jackson could be a smart addition to your FPL team as the Blues look for their first win of the new season.
Forward: Yoane Wissa - Brentford (£6.1m)
Yoane Wissa has the highest number of FPL points of any forward so far this season (20) and he’s also registered the most bonus points (5) too.
The Brentford forward is guaranteed to start given Ivan Toney’s football ban and will be looking to build on his early season form with another goal against Crystal Palace having scored at Selhurst Park last campaign.
