EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool consider second Brighton raid with Estupinan move
Liverpool have expressed a concrete interest in securing the signature of Pervis Estupinan from Brighton.
We are told that Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the Ecuadorian left-back as an eventual replacement to Andy Robertson.
Sources close to the matter reveal that Liverpool initially had an opportunity to acquire Estupinan’s services before he joined Brighton.
EXCLUSIVE: Jurgen Klopp to weigh up Liverpool 2024 exit
We understand that the player was offered to the Merseyside club while negotiations were ongoing with the agent of Carlos Soler, a midfielder Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was keen on bringing to Anfield last summer.
At that time, the club deemed Robertson sufficient for their upcoming season and so opted not to move for Estupinan.
However, an assessment of Robertson's fitness situation has prompted Liverpool to reconsider their options and explore alternatives, with the Reds now on the lookout to strengthen that side of the pitch by making Estupinan one of their main targets.
Liverpool's summer overhaul
A move would also mean immediate chemistry with Alexis Mac Allister, who the Reds brought in from Brighton earlier this summer. The pair had a fruitful partnership on and off the field during their time together.
So far Klopp has managed to bring in Mac Allister and Domink Szoboszlai, though the side are still in desperate need of more recruitment heading into the new season in midfield and defence.
