Sangare targeted

Moises Caicedo is officially a Chelsea player after the Blues hijacked Liverpool's hijack with a British record offer of €134 million. The Brighton man had been keen to join the London club for weeks, if not months, and got his wish at last.

On Monday, news also broke that Liverpool had, after three attempts, finally agreed a transfer fee with Southampton, but optimism about being able to complete this transfer soon dissipated when it was revealed that the Belgian was also keen on joining Chelsea.

This has once again forced Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke to look elsewhere and they have already found a potential alternative in Ibrahima Sangare. That is at least to former Ajax and Manchester City man Kiki Musampa, the brother of Sangare's agent.

He told Dutch ESPN: "There are big clubs that are interested such as Bayern Munich. Ibrahim is also on the list at Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, but he is not yet a priority there. Nottingham Forest had already made an offer, but that was not enough."

The 25-year-old would be a much cheaper option compared to Lavia and Caicedo as he has a release clause at PSV of just €37.5m.

Tchouameni update

It is no secret that Jurgen Klopp admires Aurelien Tchouameni, having already tried to sign the Frenchman last year. This admiration has not dissipated, but Liverpool are not trying to strike a deal for the €100m man despite some claims.

Real Madrid have no intention to let the midfielder walk and, more importantly, Tchouameni has no intention to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

Van Dijk demands transfers

Following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Chelsea, captain Virgil can Dijk called for more signings to reinforce the squad.

"Very good," Van Dijk said when asked about how the new recruits are settling in. "I am very impressed with the guys, as a human being coming to a new club, it is good how they are coming in. Our group is a very family-friendly club."

"On the pitch their quality spoke for itself. I am very happy with them, the transfer window is not closed yet so let’s see if we can make a couple more additions to make the squad as strong as possible this season."

Other tidbits

In other Liverpool news, former Reds Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson faced off on matchday 1 of the new Saudi Pro League season. Despite Mane's fourth-minute opener for Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr, it was Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq that came out on top thanks to goals from former Mainz forward Robin Quaison and ex-Celtic and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
