Romano drops 'here we go' on RECORD transfer

Fabrizio Romano has dropped his patented 'here we go' on Manchester City's Josko Gvardiol transfer.
The Cityzens finally have their man it seems. After the move had initially stalled because, as Romano claims, RB Leipzig were not happy that news of an imminent transfer had been leaked to the media, the deal now appears to have come to fruition.
Indeed, in recent days, talks between City and the Red Bulls progressed swiftly and an agreement was reached, though it is likely not what Leipzig had originally hoped for. The German side had been holding out for €100 million in hopes of making Gvardiol the world's most expensive defender.

While they have still achieved the latter, they will have to settle for the paltry sum of just €90m. A major difference! The deal will reportedly not include any add-ons, but even the guaranteed €90m is enough to see Gvardiol pip Harry Maguire to the honour of being the world's priciest defender.

Romano announced on his Twitter - or X - account that "Manchester City and Leipzig have just signed documents — Josko Gvardiol can be considered [a] new City player!"
"Long term deal agreed already in June," he continued. "Josko will travel to Manchester tonight, medical on Friday. Here we go, confirmed." The Croatian defender will be City's second summer signing after the acquisition of Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea early in the window.

This deal will take the treble winners' spending to €119m this summer, but Pep Guardiola will feel that is money well spent as he is a long-time admirer of Gvardiol, who has enjoyed a steep development curve since making the switch to Leipzig in 2021.
Indeed, despite being just 21, the Croatian is already considered one of the best defenders in the world and he also impressed at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
