City were close to reaching an agreement with West Ham for Paqueta for a deal in the region of £85million.

But the FA have opened an investigation into the Brazilian for alleged betting breaches, which has meant that City have pulled out of negotiations.

Pep Guardiola's side are now keen on Eze, who had an excellent end to the 2022-23 season under Roy Hodgson.

The 25-year-old finished the campaign with 10 goals and four assists and even made Gareth Southgate's England squad.

The Evening Standard are reporting that it will cost at least £70 million to prize him away from south London.

City are also interested in Wolves' Matheus Nunes, who will likely cost a similar amount.

It is unclear whether the signing of another attacking player will impact Cole Palmer's future at the club.

Doku to Man City

Manchester City have splashed out €60 million on Rennes winger Jeremy Doku.

Guardiola’s side have confirmed the signing of the 21-year-old for a fee that will represent a club-record sale for the Ligue 1 team.

The Cityzens had begun talks at the beginning of August in search of a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who is now playing for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League.

And, after some lengthy negotiations, the treble winners have finally got their man.
