The club are hamstrung by the lack of funds and must sell to buy. The midfield and central defence need bolstering, but there is just not enough time to ensure that deals are completed, as Man Utd need to move on players as well.

The left-back position is now vacant, with Luke Shaw sustaining a long-term injury, while Tyrell Malacia is out as well.

It means that Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in a short-term replacement. But their most recent game, a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, shows that Dalot is more than capable in that position.

He started as a left-back in the match and showed that he can be relied on going forward. The Portugal international successfully delivered 57 of the 64 passes he attempted, with a pass accuracy of 89%. e completed 23 out of 28 passes into the final third of the pitch, all while making 12 ball recoveries and six clearances. He showed pinpoint accuracy by completing five of the six long balls he attempted.

Dalot's affection for Ten Hag

The 24-year-old recently spoke about Ten Hag and how the Dutchman has provided him with the confidence he needs going forward.

He told Man Utd’s official site: ''He's been having a really good impact on my career, especially since he came in, he gives me a lot of confidence.

''The way that he wants to play suits the way that I want to play football, as well, and it's been a pleasure to work with him, he is a very demanding manager.

''He pays attention to the details and I like that. It's been a joy to play and be coached by him.''
