Man Utd consider Greenwood U-turn
Manchester United are considering making a Mason Greenwood U-turn after the public backlash to their return plans, according to a report.
The disgraced forward has not featured for the Red Devils since his arrest in January 2022 and many hope that it will stay that way. He was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault in October of that year but ultimately saw those charges dropped.
The question of what to do with the 21-year-old is tearing Manchester United apart, with many employees said to feel a deep sense of shame at the prospect of his potential return, which is what the United sporting hierarchy apparently has in mind for him. They, including head coach Erik ten Hag, are open to bringing him back into the fold.

Indeed, United appeared to test the water with a public statement issued earlier in the week that suggested that they are planning on reintegrating Greenwood into the playing squad. This was met with massive outrage, including from well-known TV host Rachel Riley. Man Utd's women's team and women's supporters' group had previously spoken out against a potential return.
When The Athletic revealed that United had drawn up a blacklist of organisations and people that would be 'hostile' to Greenwood's comeback, the entire thing turned into an unmitigated PR disaster for the club.
United consider U-turn
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are seriously considering reassessing their plan to bring the 21-year-old back following backlash from supporters.
MEN also writes: "United have declined to comment. It is understood the club are reluctant to address the matter on a matchday and ahead of the Women's World Cup final between England and Spain in Sydney tomorrow."

United had initially wanted to resolve the matter before the start of the season, but it seems that the issue could yet drag on for much longer.
