The Dutchman is in the market for another No.6 to come in and play alongside Casemiro. Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina is the coach’s number one target for the position, but the club have sounded out Spurs over a move for their Danish midfielder, too, we can confirm.

We understand that Spurs will want around £35million for Hojbjerg, a slightly more expensive number to a Premier League rival. The London side had been in talks with Atletico Madrid over the sale of the 28-year-old. We are told that his current club will not entertain any loan deal.

Man Utd have received a slight boost to their funds following the sale of Fred and Dean Henderson but are still having to sell-to-buy to ensure that their targets are brought in.

Ten Hag targets

The club are after a left-back, with Nicolas Tagliafico, being the desired choice by Ten Hag, a midfielder - with Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch also a target - and a right-sided centre-back should Harry Maguire depart the club this window.

Maguire, Scott McTominay, and Anthony Martial represent the biggest departures that Man Utd could make, the club feel. There was interest from the Saudi Pro League for the latter, but that has since cooled, and now Man Utd are likely to wait until the January window to bring in the physical No.9 that Ten Hag has been asking for all year.

As revealed, it is believed that West Ham could make another play for Maguire and McTominay, but the wages may be an issue for both.

Maguire would rather stay at Man Utd but the prospect of missing out on the European Championships for England due to lack of game-time may make the centre-back reconsider his options.
