The 20-year-old has emerged as one of Ligue 1's hottest commodities in recent times. Coming off a season that saw him record five goals and nine assists in addition to featuring at the U21 European Championship, the versatile forward has no shortage of suitors.

Indeed, PSG are long-time admirers of the Lyon youth product and they have thus far taken the most concrete steps towards signing the youngster. In late July, Lyon rejected an offer reportedly worth €30 million, but PSG remained undeterred.

Premier League interest

PSG will keep pushing as head boss Luis Enrique is said to be very keen on Barcola despite being on the verge of signing Ousmane Dembele. Perhaps this is with a view to eventually moving Neymar on, whose return to Barcelona appears to be closer than ever.

The above-mentioned report also states that there is Premier League interest. Manchester City, still searching for a Riyad Mahrez replacement, are named as one of the two 'big' English admirers. The Cityzens are also keen on fellow French star Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.

There is, however, also another, unnamed 'big' Premier League club in the mix. Liverpool have previously been credited with an interest in Barcola, but whether they are the ones still pursuing the Frenchman can't be said for certain.

The Reds appear to have different priorities at the moment, having just submitted their third bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. Jurgen Klopp and company are desperate to add a defensive midfielder, while centre-back is also a position that the Scousers would like to strengthen.
