Chelsea are reportedly working on a deal to send Mykhailo Mudryk on loan for the second-half of the 2023-24 season, according to sensational reports from Spain.

Mudryk, 22, has struggled since arriving for an initial €70 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, and is still yet to score his first competitive goal for the Blues.

He did score against Brighton & Hove Albion during the Premier League Summer Series, but his assists versus Leicester City and Brighton last campaign remain his only competitive goal contributions.

Despite a promising pre-season, in which he began developing a nice relationship with new signing Nicolas Jackson, Mudryk has begun the new campaign as an impact substitute rather than a starter.

Mauricio Pochettino has instead favoured Ben Chilwell, typically a full-back, at left wing in every game bar the 0-0 draw away to Bournemouth on Sunday - Mudryk started that game instead.

The Ukraine international has not been able to contribute in a meaningful way at Stamford Bridge yet, but his huge transfer fee and long contract - which runs until 2031 - means Chelsea must find a way to extract his obvious talent on a consistent basis.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the west London club are preparing to do that by loaning Mudryk out in January.

Mudryk to leave Chelsea on loan?

Fichajes’ report states that Chelsea are working on a deal that would be beneficial for both Mudryk and themselves, with a six-month loan move being considered.

There are reportedly many suitors who would be interested in signing Mudryk on loan, as per the report, and Chelsea are open to sending the 22-year-old to another club in a bid to rediscover his form.

Mudryk currently faces competition from Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer, Ian Maatsen and evidently Chilwell for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

Christopher Nkunku’s return from injury in November will likely push Mudryk even further down the pecking order and towards a potential loan move.
