Spanish outlet Fichajes has reported that the need to bring in a No.9 is high on the agenda for Mauricio Pochettino, who plans to do everything to sign a new striker when the transfer window reopens in January.

The club spent big over the summer window but they have not been able to bring about a good start to the season, with the main concern being their lack of goals.

Chelsea have scored just five goals in six games despite their huge investments during the window, winning just one of their matches in the league so far.

The Blues are in the market for a goal-scorer for the winter window. Christopher Nkunku was brought in from RB Leipzig to be one of their main source of goals, but the Frenchman has been laid off with an injury that could see him out of action until next year.

Chelsea have been linked to a myriad of names already, even though the window closed just earlier this month. The likes of Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney are thought to be targets for the west London side. There has also been a suggestion that Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins could be targeted - with the player currently talking to his side about a contract renewal.

Watkins and Vlahovic linked

Watkins, who earned a Man of the Match for his display in Villa’s 6-1 win over Brighton on Saturday, has been linked with a move to Arsenal, as well.

It comes after Juventus' technical director, Cristiano Giuntoli, admitted that there was a proposal on the table for Dusan Vlahovic from Chelsea over the summer.

"There was an offer from Chelsea for Vlahovic. We did not want to part with Dusan, but if we encountered certain figures, we would have agreed. Chelsea never offered that amount, and the exchange did not happen."
