Fantasy Premier League 2023-24: The best FPL team for Gameweek 7
The Fantasy Premier League deadline for Gameweek Seven is fast approaching, with managers facing a race against time to finalise their team.
As always, FPL managers have a budget of £100 million to spend on 15 players, with 11 starters being supplemented by four bench options every week.
FPL managers must select two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards with their £100m budget, with more emphasis placed on the starting XI.
Here is FootballTransfers’ selection for the best Gameweek Seven team in FPL 2023-24.
Using the cheapest options possible for the bench - a £3.9m goalkeeper, a £3.9m defender, a £4.4m midfielder and a £4.4m forward - there is £83.4m left for the starting XI.

Formation: 3-4-3
Goalkeeper: Nick Pope - Newcastle (£5m)
Newcastle’s defence was their most impressive facet of their game at the start of last season, but their defensive solidity was far less eye-catching towards the end of the campaign.
However, that now looks rectified, with Eddie Howe’s side keeping four consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.
With Burnley travelling to St James’ Park this weekend, Nick Pope is a good bet to secure another shut-out and at least six FPL points.
Defender: Gabriel - Arsenal (£4.7m)
Gabriel will certainly start for Arsenal this weekend given the Gunners’ injury list and an away trip to Bournemouth represents a good chance for FPL points.
The Cherries could be without Dominic Solanke due to injury and Andoni Iraola’s side have only scored five league goals so far this season - only Luton (3) and Burnley (4) have less.
Defender: Josko Gvardiol - Man City (£5.1m)
Manchester City have conceded the fewest number of goals in the entire Premier League this season (3) and they are the only side in Europe’s top five leagues with a 100% record so far this term.
Pep Guardiola’s side look at their majestic best and therefore a trip to Molineux to face Wolves - who have netted only six times this campaign - doesn’t appear too threatening. Josko Gvardiol is therefore a good FPL pick.
Defender: James Tarkowski - Everton (£4.4m)
If Everton are ever going to keep a clean sheet this season, then a home game against Luton Town is the best opportunity they’re going to have.
Rob Edwards’ side have scored the least goals in the division (3) and Sean Dyche’s side simply need a result this weekend. James Tarkowski took home 12 FPL points last week and is the pick of the bunch against Luton.
Midfielder: Mohamed Salah - Liverpool (£12.5m)
Mohamed Salah has contributed a goal or an assist in every game this season and has bagged 20 points across his last two FPL matches.
The Egyptian may be expensive, but he’s a reliable figure in Fantasy Premier League and Liverpool’s form is excellent.
A trip to face Tottenham will be tricky, but Salah has 11 career goals against Spurs, and he remains a great FPL asset this week.
Midfielder: Martin Odegaard - Arsenal (£8.5m)
With Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Gabriel Martinelli all injury doubts for Arsenal, Martin Odegaard must stand up and be counted for.
The Norwegian surprisingly does not have an assist in his past 15 Premier League games, but he has scored seven goals in that time and will be eyeing up Bournemouth as a fixture in which he can add to his 2023-24 tally.
Midfielder: Bryan Mbeumo - Brentford (£6.9m)
Brentford midfielder Bryan Mbeumo is now priced at £6.9m in FPL - having started the year at £6.5m - and he is owned by nearly 30% of managers.
He is one of the go-to picks this year and considering Thomas Frank’s side face Nottingham Forest this weekend, Mbeumo is a must even though he’s blanked for the past two weeks.
Midfielder: Cole Palmer - Chelsea (£4.9m)
Cole Palmer is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea, but that is set to change this gameweek.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Fulham and Palmer should start following his performance against Brighton in midweek. The England U21 star provided the match-winning assist for Nicolas Jackson and caused the Seagulls frequent problems from the No.10 position.
Chelsea haven’t clicked yet, but if they do then Palmer will likely be at the heart of it. This could be an excellent differential pick with only 0.2% ownership.
Forward: Erling Haaland - Man City (£14.1m)
The boring, but necessary choice. Erling Haaland is owned by 92.4% of FPL managers, there’s not much more to say.
An away game against Wolves is very appealing - he scored four goals in two games against them last season - and he is the obvious captain pick.
Forward: Julian Alvarez - Man City (£6.9m)
Julian Alvarez was the most transferred-in player ahead of Gameweek Six and he disappointed with only one point against Nottingham Forest.
However, he is too good an option to turn down, especially given his new prevalent role at Man City and the fact they face Wolves.
Forward: Rasmus Hojlund - Man Utd (£7.1m)
Man Utd may have been a mess this season, but Rasmus Hojlund has shown real promise. The young forward scored his first Red Devils goal in the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich and will be looking to add to his tally against Crystal Palace this weekend.
Erik ten Hag’s side have looked fairly out of sorts in both attack and defence, but Palace lost 3-0 to the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup in midweek and Hojlund will be eyeing up a first league goal for the club on Saturday.
