Liverpool have carried out a midfield revolution this summer, but they may not be finished just yet, according to a report.

Jurgen Klopp and sporting director Jorg Schmadte endured a tumultuous summer. The early days of the window were smooth sailing as Liverpool completed transfers for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to compensate for the loss of several experienced fringe players.

However, when Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson both decided to depart for the Saudi Pro League, the mood shifted a bit. Especially the Brazilian's move was a blow as it left the Reds shorthanded in the defensive midfield position even if the money was too good to pass up.

Southampton's Romeo Lavia was therefore targeted, as was Brighton's Moises Caicedo. The Reds even ostensibly managed to hijack Chelsea's move for the latter, only to have the deal re-hijacked - and then they also missed out on Lavia!

This meant that Liverpool turned to experienced Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo, but he is far from a long-term solution, nor can Deadline Day signing Ryan Gravenberch solve their issues at the base of midfield.

Another midfielder

Jurgen Klopp and company will be well aware of this and they are already thinking ahead to January. The Reds had been linked with a move for Fluminense midfielder Andre, but the Brazilian club made it clear that they won't sell as long as they compete in the Copa Libertadores.

They rejected all of Liverpool's approaches, but the player is said to be open to the move. Although the Anfield club didn't manage to get the 22-year-old this summer, they have not given up on their pursuit, according to the Liverpool Echo.

In fact, the report states that Liverpool could make a move in January for the £30m-rated midfielder given the expectation that another senior midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, will most likely depart Merseyside next summer.
