Real Madrid and Liverpool to 'FIGHT' over €150m star
Even though Rafael Leao has only just extended his AC Milan contract, clubs are already - or once again - vying for his services.
The Portuguese is one of Europe's most sought-after commodities. After recording an impressive 15 goals and 10 assists in Serie A last season, Leao was heavily linked with a summer move. Particularly Chelsea were said to be very keen on acquiring his services.
The 24-year-old, however, always made it very clear that he was intent on staying with the Rossoneri and he accordingly put pen to paper on a new deal that runs until 2028. It included a whopping €175 million release clause, but reports suggest that this clause was only valid for July to ward off interest.

Either way, signing a contract extension has not been enough to deter potential suitors and his good start to the season - two goals and two assists in four Serie A games - has once again caught the attention of some of Europe's biggest hitters.
Real and Liverpool
That is at least what Fichajes claims. The Spanish outlet asserts that Real Madrid and Liverpool are very keen on Leao and that they will do battle for his signature in the summer of 2024.
The report goes so far as to suggest that "the possibility of a change of scenery does not seem to be something Leao would reject, given the magnitude and prestige of the two interested teams." However, it will be very tough to strike a deal.

"AC Milan have made it clear that they consider Leao a fundamental piece in their project, extending his contract until 2028. In addition, they have established an asking price for the player around €150m."
Should Mohamed Salah get sold to Saudi Arabia in January or the summer, Liverpool would have the resources to match that asking price, but AC Milan will fight tooth and nail to keep their star man.
