Manchester United have made their minds up how to cope with the absences of Antony and Jadon Sancho, Fabrizio Romano has announced.

Both wingers are missing from Erik ten Hag’s squad presently, with the Brazilian facing charges of domestic abuse that he denies while the Englishman has been exiled following a social media post aimed towards the manager following the 3-1 loss against Arsenal in the Premier League a fortnight ago.

The Man Utd boss has admitted that he has no idea when either player might return to the fold. Antony is waiting to have his name cleared, which as the Mason Greenwood saga showed could be a protracted affair, while Sancho is reportedly frozen out until he apologises for his actions.

Despite neither player’s return being imminent, Man Utd are ready to be patient with the situation, according to football transfer news expert Romano.

“Manchester United have made a decision in terms of wingers. Many players have been offered to Manchester United – we had rumours about Anwar El Ghazi, Oussama Idrissi and many others – but the idea of the club is to continue with the current squad,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“This protects Facundo Pellistri, who is negotiating a new deal, and then to proceed with him to the new contract and then to consider a new signing in that position in January potentially.

“Let’s see what happens with Antony, let’s see what happens with Sancho and then Manchester United in the January transfer window will be ready to do something.”

Nico Williams to Man Utd: The latest

Man Utd have been linked with a string of options, but perhaps the most viable is Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

Not only does the 21-year-old boast impressive potential, but he is out of contract next summer and January could be the last opportunity for his employers to cash in on him.

Barcelona are circling over the Spain winger, who Xavi is said to be a fan of, but Man Utd have the advantage in this case that they can open talks in January. Barca will have to wait until his deal is expired.
