The Blues also signed Mykhailo Mudryk (€70m), Benoit Badiashile (€38m), Noni Madueke (€35m) and others in a historic window that set a new record for January spending by one club.

The 2023 summer transfer saw the west London club spent big yet again, with Moises Caicedo arriving from Brighton & Hove Albion for an initial €116m. That fee was not the biggest of the window, however.

Harry Kane was the Premier League's most expensive sale, courtesy of his €100m transfer to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The first confirmed transfer of January 2024 saw Brighton sign 17-year-old Romanian winger Adrian Mazilu from Farul Constanta for £2.5m. It was completed a few months before the winter window opened as Mazilu was allowed to finish 2023 with the Romanian team.

The Premier League may have competition from Saudi Arabia for total January spendind, however.

The Saudi Pro League is the nouveau riche league of world football, with a host of world-class players moving to the Kingdom for astronomical fees and on massive wages in 2023. These include the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Sadio Mane and Karim Benzema.

Saudi Arabian clubs are certain to splash out on many more superstars in January 2024. To see all the latest Saudi Pro League deals in the winter window, you can click here.
