Arsenal still want to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, despite the fact he recently signed a new long-term contract with the German club.

The Gunners were first linked with a move for the Englishman in September, but rumours of a move were expected to disappear following news that he had extended his stay at Dortmund.

However, Arsenal remain keen on the attacking midfielder and are currently leading the race for his signature, according to German media outlet Bild.

Bynoe-Gittens joined Dortmund from Manchester City’s academy in 2020, following the same path that was successfully taken by Jadon Sancho before his move to Manchester United.

The 19-year-old is not yet a fixture in the Dortmund side - he has two league starts this season and only seven Bundesliga starts in total - but Bynoe-Gittens has already attracted major transfer interest from England.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all said to be interested in the teenager, according to Bild, with the Gunners leading the way as things stand.

A move would have to wait until next summer at the earliest, as per Bild, via Metro, but interest in the young star is rising rapidly.

What have Dortmund said?

When Bynoe-Gittens signed his new contract, which runs until 2028, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl revealed his satisfaction at reaching an agreement with the youngster.

He said: “We are convinced that his development is far from complete and are pleased that Jamie has decided ahead of time for a long-term future at BVB despite the great interest of several top clubs in Europe.”

Bynoe-Gittens currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of just €11.6 million, which has fallen from a peak of €15.4m in June 2023.

His value remains low due to his lack of game time at Dortmund, although it is likely to increase if he is given the chance to prove himself more regularly.
