Bayern Munich are still interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah and it’s “very likely” the Englishman will leave Stamford Bridge in January, according to reports.

Chalobah, 24, has not yet featured for the Blues this season due to injury, but Axel Disasi’s arrival and the return of Benoit Badiashile to full fitness means that Chalobah is unlikely to force his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s thinking.

Furthermore, Chelsea still have Wesley Fofana to return from his potentially season-ending ACL injury and the talented Bashir Humphreys currently impressing on loan at Swansea City.

Chalobah was heavily linked with a Chelsea exit during the summer transfer window, but Bayern were unable to agree a deal, while the player also rejected a move to Nottingham Forest, as per reports.

Despite their failure to land Chalobah in August, however, Bayern are ready to go back in for the Englishman in January. That is according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who has reported that Chalobah remains on Bayern’s transfer wish-list.

Plettenberg has revealed that Chalobah is still keen on being reunited with his former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel at Bayern and that it is “very likely” he will leave Stamford Bridge this winter.

Furthermore, Plettenberg has reported that Bayern may look to pursue an initial loan deal with an option to buy, while contact between Chalobah and the Bavarians has continued since talks of a move began during the summer.

However, there are no concrete talks between Chelsea and Bayern, although Chalobah does appear to be on his way towards the exit door.

Chalobah to Bayern?

Bayern sold Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan during the summer window and Chalobah was seen as their number one target to replace the Frenchman.

A move never materialised, however, and the 24-year-old remains at Stamford Bridge.

Bayern are currently third in the Bundesliga table, two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. On the other hand, Chelsea are 11th in the Premier league and have only picked up 11 points from their opening eight matches.
