Harry Maguire could still leave Manchester United this season with West Ham still considering the England international as a transfer target if Kurt Zouma leaves the club.

The Hammers saw an approach for Maguire fail in the summer, with reports that the 30-year-old was unwilling to lower his wage demands and take a lower payoff from United to seal the deal.

Despite United’s injury concerns in defence, Maguire has made just one Premier League start this season, with Jonny Evans – largely expected to be a fringe player – being preferred to the former club captain.

REVEALED: The truth behind Maguire's failed West Ham transfer

Maguire spoke out over his situation during the international break, defending his win rate in his appearances and revealing that a transfer to West Ham ‘was never really agreed’ between the two clubs.

However, a report by 90min claims that Maguire is still on West Ham’s radar if Saudi Pro League sides make another approach for Zouma, having had interest knocked back in the summer and being told no offers would be considered until January at the earliest.

Zouma has 18 months remaining on his contract at West Ham and replaced Declan Rice as the club’s permanent captain this summer, having since started every Premier League game this season under David Moyes.

Maguire facing uncertain future at Old Trafford

United are reportedly keen on signing a defender in January but their outlay of more than £200 million in the summer, combined with the uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership, means that they are still only in a position to sell before buying.

Maguire would be a prime candidate to be sold if United received another bid similar to the £30m West Ham offered in the summer, although the defender himself has said he is keen to fight for his place in the team.

Despite his lack of minutes for United, Maguire’s spot in the England team appears to be safe ahead of next year’s European Championships but he would still be open to an exit in order to gain more first team football.

BOLD: Maguire makes intriguing statement amid transfer links

United still have Jean-Clair Todibo high on their list of potential replacements but they could face competition from the Hammers for Edmond Tapsoba, with the Bayer Leverkusen man reportedly also an option for Moyes alongside Maguire.
