The club are still looking to bolster the No.6 position in the January transfer window and it’s believed that the 21-year-old is one under consideration, La Gazzetta Dello Sport have stated.

So far Jurgen Klopp has been using Alexis Mac Allister in the holding role to replace Fabinho, who was sold over the summer. The Reds had bought Japan international Wataru Endo but he has featured on the substitutes bench for the most part.

Fernandez has played 43 times for Boca Juniors and is also the subject of interest from AC Milan and Benfica.

At the age of 21, Fernandez could have a future in Europe. Per the report, Liverpool have been aroused by his ability, but AC Milan and Benfica – both of whom are in the Champions League this season – have also become interested.

Fernandez, whose contract is up in December 2025 is likely to play in the upcoming Copa Libertadores final early next month against Fluminense, where another Liverpool target, Andre, is also set to feature.

Which midfielder will Liverpool buy?

As FootballTransfers revealed, Andre remains liked by Jurgen Klopp ahead of the winter window, though the Reds are assessing a number of options.

We are informed that is very likely that the Brazil international will move to the Premier League once the Brazil Serie A concludes. Liverpool, Fulham, and West Ham each send proposals to his current side over the summer - but a deal could not be reached and so he remained with Fluminense.

The club as well as several other English clubs will send their head scouts to watch the final at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on November 4.
