Liverpool face Arsenal competition for versatile Ajax wonderkid
Devyne Rensch is being targeted by Liverpool, according to a report.
Ajax's versatile right-back is still not an undisputed starter in Amsterdam but is nevertheless on the radar of the English giants. Liverpool are eagerly looking for defensive reinforcements for the coming winter break and know that Rensch can play in several positions.
Although the 20-year-old missed the last matches due to an injury, the defender is being linked with a move by Football Insider. Rensch is said to be high on the list of Liverpool, who have been monitoring the one-time Dutch international for some time.

An important aspect is that Rensch fits in with Jürgen Klopp's game, so the defender will have little difficulty in coming to grips with the Reds' playing style. Another reason why Liverpool are monitoring Rensch is Trent Alexander-Arnold's susceptibility to injuries.
Liverpool's current right-back has already missed five games this season due to a hamstring injury, meaning Klopp was often forced to start with central defender Joe Gomez out wide. With no real backup for Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool are expected to ultimately lose out in the title race.
Arsenal in the mix too
Although there has been no approach yet, Liverpool will continue to keep a close eye on Rensch's activities in the near future. However, Liverpool are not the only club whose scouts regularly sit in the stands for the defender.
That's because Arsenal also have Rensch on their wishlist. The Gunners are not immediately looking for a new right-back, but are taking into account the departure of Cédric Soares in the coming transfer period.
The Portuguese international was loaned to Fulham last season and is not in Mikel Arteta's plans. If Soares leaves, it can't be ruled out that Arsenal will report to Amsterdam for Rensch.

The defender, who went through the entire youth academy of Ajax, still has a contract in Amsterdam until 2025 and will probably not be available for a bargain price.
Data from FootballTransfers shows that Rensch currently has an Estimated Transfer Value of €11.4 million. That amount was a lot higher in the past, as Rensch boasted an ETV of €28.9m in December 2021.
