Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta is not ruling out a potential return of Andre Onana in the future.

The goalkeeper enjoyed an eminently successful stint in Milan, playing an integral role in the Nerrazzuri's run to the Champions League final. His outstanding performances and his ability with the ball at his feet earned him a €52.5 million move to Old Trafford in the summer, but it has been a nightmare so far.

Onana has made several high-profile howlers as Manchester United have endured a torrid start to the campaign. While the 27-year-old has always been quick to take responsibility for his mistakes, this hasn't spared him from harsh criticism from all quarters. Some are even clamouring for David de Gea to return, while others believe United will already replace Onana in the summer.

As for Inter, they played an absolute blinder, signing Onana for nothing and flipping him for a massive profit.

Onana to return?

Inter's CEO Marotta has now given his thoughts on the transfer and whether or not Onana could return to relive the glory days. "Onana was a very successful deal with Manchester United," he said at an event organised by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Could the Cameroonian suit up for Inter in the future? “Anything can happen in football," Marotta responded, "even if those who return do not always have positive results. It was an important experience for him and for us. It was also a very successful deal for us to get him for free and sell him for all that money.”

Inter are flying high in Serie A and have not felt the loss of Onana despite his incredible performances last term. Yann Sommer, signed from Bayern for just €6.8m, has been a more than capable replacement, keeping five clean sheets in eight league games for the Nerrazzuri.
