Romano provides update on Man Utd target dubbed ‘excellent option’
Fabrizio Romano has dropped an important update on Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who has long been linked with a transfer to Manchester United.
One of the standouts at the London side, he is on the radar of numerous large clubs. Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham are all keeping a close eye on the Englishman.
Erik ten Hag’s side are also following the player but have not opened talks with the former Chelsea man.

Romano writes that Man Utd are currently mainly looking at Goncalo Inacio, Antonio Silva, Jean-Clair Todibo and Edmond Tapsoba.
According to him, Guehi is also ‘an excellent option’.
Romano critically adds: “Yet there are no concrete discussions for the time being, it is only about scouting. Someone like Guehi of course has the advantage that he has proven himself in the Premier League, but they are all top players.”

Guehi offers reliability to Man Utd
Guehi, who was also linked with Ajax in the summer, missed only one match for Crystal Palace last season and played on no fewer than 40 occasions. He managed to score once: in the 5-1 win against Leeds United on April 9.
He has played 10 times this season, including a 1-0 victory over Man Utd.
Guehi is under contract at Selhurst Park until mid-2026 and reportedly earns a salary of £50,000 per week – a salary that could receive a huge bump at a top Premier League side like United.
Nevertheless, it does not seem likely that he will leave in January: the central defender reportedly wants to continue playing for Palace until at least the summer of 2024.
He would like to maximise his chance of playing time to remain in the picture for the England team for the European Championship in 2024.
United coach Erik ten Hag is struggling with a major wave of injuries at the centre-back. Lisandro Martínez and Luke Shaw are both out, while Raphael Varane is just making his way back from a problem.
Last Saturday, Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans were at the heart of the defence as the Red Devils won 2-1 against Sheffield United.
