Harry Maguire to West Ham in January: The state of play - Fabrizio Romano
Man Utd have not received a new bid from West Ham for Harry Maguire ahead of the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Maguire was close to leaving United for the Hammers during the summer and it has been reported in recent days that West Ham are returning to make a new offer in January.
Romano has outlined the current state of play with Maguire.

What did Fabrizio Romano say?
“Away from the Manchester United takeover, we continue to hear plenty of rumours about some big names facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford,” Romano said on CaughtOffside.
“The first one is Harry Maguire, who had chances to leave in the summer. Still, despite new links with West Ham, I’m told Man United have not received any approach from West Ham at the moment. We will see in December, but at the moment there are no discussions ongoing.

“Of course, Maguire’s departure could be important as I’ve previously reported that United have plans to sign a new centre-back in 2024.”
Maguire was transfer listed by Man Utd this past summer after falling well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
West Ham had a bid of around £30 million for Maguire reportedly accepted in August, having fallen short with their opening bid.
But the move then collapsed, with Maguire’s salary requests blamed for the failure to complete a deal.
West Ham could now return to make a new move in January.
Maguire has endured two miserable past years for Man Utd, ever since Euro 2020.
After an error-prone 2021-22 season, he finally lost his place in the first team during the 2022-23 campaign as manager Erik ten Hag preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his centre back pairing.
Maguire also started the current season down the pecking order but an injury crisis has seen him gain more playing time recently.
Maguire joined Man Utd from Leicester in a world record deal for a defender in 2019.
He has made 179 appearances and scored seven goals.
