Roma tell Chelsea their price for Tammy Abraham
Chelsea have been told that they will have to pay Roma €52 million in order to re-sign Tammy Abraham this summer, according to Calciomercato.
In recent days, there have been reports that Chelsea are interested in bringing Abraham back to the club in exchange for Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku is on loan at Roma this season from Chelsea and the Giallorossi would like to make the move permanent.
Abraham is someone who Roma are happy to sell in 2024. Indeed they planned to sell him this past summer before he suffered an ACL injury in the Europa League final in May.
The attacker will not return to the pitch until the new year, but this is likely to be his last season in Rome. Roma value him at €52m in any exchange with Lukaku.
Tammy Abraham at Roma
Abraham completed a €40m transfer to Jose Mourinho's side in 2021 - with another €5m in bonuses - after finding himself surplus to requirements at Chelsea.
The Blues do have a buyback option on Abraham for €80m in 2024 but this is now irrelevant given he is valued lower now.
The Englishman enjoyed a wonderful first season at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring 27 goals in all competitions from 53 games.
This included some key goals in big matches, including the Rome derby and the winner versus Leicester to put Roma in the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The Giallorossi would go on to win that final against Feyenoord to claim their first European title in over 60 years.
Abraham struggled last season
However, Abraham endured a difficult second season. He has scored just nine goals in 54 games in all competitions. This led to him even losing his first-team spot in some matches.
He then tore his ACL in the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla and was ruled out for the rest of 2023.
Chelsea will need to first be certain that he has fully recovered before they consider making a move.
