EXCLUSIVE: Everton tracking Uruguayan winger Maxi Araujo ahead of January window
Everton are tracking Maxi Araujo ahead of the January transfer window, FootballTransfers can reveal.
Sources tell us that the Merseyside club's recruitment team have been closely monitoring the 23-year-old's performances this season for the Uruguayan club Toluca. Araujo is contracted until June 2026 but is thought to be open to a move to Europe, with Real Betis also thought to be keen.
We understand that Everton are set to for a proactive January window, with 777 hoping to bring in several names to bolster the side. At present, the club have been playing Dwight McNeil on the left flank, after they failed to secure the signings of Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra in the summer.

The Miami-based firm are still yet to pass the rigorous Premier League owners' test, an ongoing process, while the still need to finalise their deal with the majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, which is pending.
The agreement between Moshiri and 777 Partners was announced by Everton back in September, and at the time it was emphasised the need for a lengthy period of clearance before the deal is formalised.
There have been questions raised about the suitability of 777 Partners, who then released a statement to reassure the Everton fanbase of their intentions and overall philosophy.
The statement read: "777 has always strived to conduct its businesses in line with local laws and regulations. Where it has been suggested otherwise, we will defend our reputation vigorously by all legitimate means."
On the pitch, Sean Dyche’s men have shown an uptick in form, with their latest display being a 1-1 draw with Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
It follows wins against Burnley in the League Cup and against West Ham in the Premier League game prior.
