Graham Potter continues to be jobless following his exit from Chelsea earlier this year, though the 48-year-old has turned down another job opportunity.

Potter had been given the opportunity to move back to Sweden and take command of the national team after they missed qualification for Euro 2024, but the former Blues boss has decided that role is not for him according to Aftonbladet.

Andrea Mollerberg, the secretary general of the Swedish FA, had previously indicated that Potter was one of the names on its shortlist.

It is the latest in a series of jobs that he has been linked with, yet he remains out of work and has set a very clear target as to what he plans next.

Despite his difficult time in charge of Chelsea, Potter’s stock remains high following successful stints at Swansea and Brighton, which followed seven years with Ostersund, where the link to Sweden originates from.

Potter to Man Utd rumours will not go away

He was linked with the Nice job in the summer, with reports suggesting that he could eventually be promoted to the Manchester United manager post following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority takeover, while he also rejected the opportunity to move to Lyon.

Despite being linked with both posts, concretely in the case of Lyon, Potter remains out of work, yet it is his intention to return to club management, according to the reports in Sweden.

It remains to be seen exactly what type of challenge that the Englishman is waiting for, yet links with Manchester United refuse to go away, with Ratcliffe apparently a big fan of the club-building style that Potter has become associated with over his career.

Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, is under pressure at Old Trafford, so even if the job is not vacant at this point, it may well be in the weeks ahead once his takeover is finally completed.
