Erling Haaland’s agent Rafael Pimenta has refused to confirm that the Norway international will still be with Manchester City next season as rumours over a possible transfer to Real Madrid build once again.

AS reports that Los Blancos are ready to trigger the €200 million release clause that is allegedly in Haaland’s contract at the Etihad Stadium, although quite how such a deal might be funded is unclear.

Nevertheless, speculation over Haaland’s future was stoked by Pimenta, who indicated that the door might be open for a deal to be struck.

“Erling is the master of his destiny. Not just now, but his entire life,” she told Relevo.

“The club and the player, we’re all in the same boat. Things have to be talked about in such a way that everyone is okay, comfortable and satified with their experience together.

“It’s not true to say that Erling does what he wants. Erling is always going to do what is best for him and his club, Manchester City. When everyone is willing to make a transfer, it will be done.

“He’s not the type of player who’s going to say: ‘I’m leaving, bye! I don’t want to know anything.’

“It’s not like that. And it’s not going to happen because respect comes before everything. If they give it to him, he will give it back, too.”

Asked if the player is happy in Manchester, Pimenta replied: “You’d have to ask him. That doesn’t mean the opposite. I know he is, but I don’t like to speak for others.”

Does Haaland have a release clause?

Pimenta commented on the status of Haaland’s contract, which is guarded with the utmost secrecy, suggesting that Real Madrid have no idea how much they will have to pay to secure the former Borussia Dortmund hitman.

“Erling’s contract is know to Manchester City, his father, himself and me. Nobody else,” she confirmed.

It would be a huge surprise if Haaland were to leave Manchester City next summer, with the striker having netted 69 goals in 71 games for the club since a €60m move from Dortmund in 2022.
