Man Utd eye 29-year-old defensive midfielder from La Liga
Manchester United have entered the race to sign Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez, according to reports.
Outlet Estadio Deportivo have claimed that the Red Devils are monitoring the player, who is out of contract in June.
It’s thought that Rodriguez won’t be signing a new deal with his current club so is looking for a new side to continue his career with next year.
Betis would rather sell the 29-year-old in January than let him leave as a free agent in the summer. The report also states that Barcelona are keen on the La Liga player, as they look to bolster their numbers in the holding position in midfield.

Rodriguez began his career at River Plate before moving to Mexico’s Liga MX division. He spent three seasons with America before landing a move to Europe, signing for Betis in 2019. He has played 145 matches for the Spanish side so far, netting seven goals.
Should Man Utd buy a defensive midfielder?
Last summer Man Utd spent a hefty £60 million on Casemiro, who is of a similar age. Real Madrid allowed their veteran to leave, and while he enjoyed a decent first season at Old Trafford, this year has left a lot to be desired.

Casemiro has found himself substituted off a half-time in numerous games this campaign so far, while questions are being asked of his fitness levels at such a mature age.
Furthermore, it’s believed that his move was somewhat short-sighted by Ma Utd, given they had spent a considerable amount for a player who is well past his prime.
Casemiro is among the highest earners at the club but there are concerns that his form is dwindling.
