'0/10 performance' - Arsenal's David Raya SLAMMED for Luton Town performance
David Raya has been heavily criticised for his role in Luton Town’s second and third goals
The Spaniard is currently on loan at Mikel Arteta’s side after a one-year deal was agreed with Brentford, and the Gunners have an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
Following his arrival, Arteta opted to drop Aaron Ramsdale and Raya is now Arsenal’s clear first-choice goalkeeper.
With Arsenal 2-1 up at Kenilworth Road, Luton came back into the game shortly after half-time when Elijah Adebayo headed home from a Alfie Doughty corner.
While Raya could do nothing about the first corner Arsenal conceded from, Adebayo’s goal was at least partly his fault. The Spaniard failed to claim the cross and was weak in his jump as he was beaten to the ball by Adebayo, who netted his first Premier League goal to make it 2-2.
12 minutes later, Ross Barkley put Luton 3-2 ahead and Raya was certainly to blame for this goal.

Although the former Chelsea man was excellent in the build-up, his eventual left-footed shot squirmed underneath Raya and into the back of the net. Kai Havertz spared his blushes with an equaliser just three minutes later, but that doesn’t take away from the huge error made by Raya.
It was only Luton's fourth shot on target in the game and it was their third goal.
Fans of Arsenal and rival clubs have not held back with their criticism of Raya on X, formerly known as Twitter.

I swear if you think David Raya is a better goalkeeper than a confident Aaron Ramsdale you just don’t understand the game. Pathetic.

David Raya has had an absolute shocker this second half. However Ross Barkley deserves that goal he’s been terrific this game and worked so hard with and without the ball.

Going from Ramsdale to Raya is like going from roti boom to roti planta. An insignificant upgrade.

Raya just showed exactly why Bułka, Mamardashvili & Trubin are the GKs I want and we need.
They OWN their box, claiming crosses on corners, set pieces & open play. Colossus presence that’s dominant claiming high balls.
I don’t think Raya is bad at all, just has obvious flaws https://t.co/bbtsI9NEe0— Ben Mattinson (@Ben_Mattinson_) December 5, 2023
Thank god we never paid over the top for Raya!

You can argue until you're blue in the face about whether Arteta is responsible or not...
But the fact is that neither of Arsenal's goalkeepers are playing anywhere near their best this season.— Dougie Critchley (@DougieCritchley) December 5, 2023
Raya has been a solid 0/10 today. We have created a serious problem at goalkeeper.
