Revealed: Casemiro’s first reaction to Man Utd doubling his Real Madrid wage
Casemiro was astounded when he learned that Manchester United would be doubling his salary from Real Madrid.
Last year, the midfielder moved to Old Trafford from Los Blancos in a deal worth up to £70milllion.
It’s reported via the Daily Mail that Madrid officials reportedly extended a final opportunity to Casemiro to reconsider his decision. However, he remained steadfast in his desire to join the Red Devils.
The significant increase in his earnings, doubling his previous wage, left Casemiro wide-eyed. It’s thought that, upon learning of the offer, the Brazil international’s initial response to a Real Madrid teammate was, "I can't believe how much they are going to pay me."
Following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure later that year, the 31-year-old found himself as United's highest earner, being on a weekly salary of approximately £350,000. Casemiro’s high salary means that the club are looking to move him on next year in a bid to bring their wage bill down.
Casemiro’s Saudi Pro League links
After an impressive first season at Man Utd, where he played 51 games in all competitions, Casemiro has now been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the upcoming window.
Other reports have stated that the club are open to allowing him to leave as they look to replace him with a younger player.
There have been suggestions that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are keen on acquiring the former Real Madrid player, but it’s not clear whether they will be able to find an agreement with Man Utd.
Casemiro signed a four-year contract last year but the Brazilian's performance levels have dipped significantly this season.
He has been out injured since October and his future at Man Utd is far from certain in the coming months.
