Chelsea are not in concrete talks with Napoli star Khvicha Kvarastkhelia and the presence of Mykhailo Mudryk has played a role in the club’s thinking regarding a move for the Georgia international.

Kvaratskhelia, 22, has been linked with a move away from Napoli for several months, and Chelsea are among the teams reportedly interested in pursuing a move.

However, despite reports to the contrary, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea aren’t in solid negotiations with Napoli over a possible move for Kvaratskhelia.

He told his YouTube channel: “From what I am hearing, Chelsea have not started any kind of contact for Kvaratskhelia. Not on the player’s side and not with Napoli, so the situation is completely quiet.

“Nothing is going to happen in January because Kvaratskhelia is not for sale in the January transfer window, and for Napoli, with the dangerous situation with Victor Osimhen, their idea is to keep Kvaratskhelia.

“At the moment, between Chelsea and Kvaratskhelia, there is absolutely nothing concrete in terms of negotiations or talks.”

Romano then added a crucial detail about why the Blues may not pursue a move for the Napoli man.

“Also because Chelsea’s position on Mykhailo Mudryk remains clear. I’m still told that Chelsea really trust Mudryk and they believe he is going to be a crucial part of their project for the present and future.

“They trust him, they invested in him… [and they believe] he will perform at the top level, so they are protecting him and that’s why [despite] links with wingers who play on the left, this is not something Chelsea are obsessive with.”

Kvaratskhelia wants Real Madrid move

Although several teams have been linked with signing Kvaratskhelia, his father has admitted that there is one club he wants to join.

"For Khvicha, playing against Real Madrid was special," Kvaratskhelia’s father told Georgian football outlet Geo Team after Napoli’s Champions League match against Los Blancos last week. “He has always dreamed and I am convinced that he still dreams of playing for Real Madrid.

"In my family, everyone is a fan of Los Blancos - except for me. For this reason it was a very special match."

Kvaratskhelia has four goals and four assists in 12 Serie A games for Napoli this season.
