Chelsea, Man Utd or Liverpool? Leny Yoro's ideal next club revealed
Leny Yoro is one of the best prospects in European football and it’s therefore not particularly surprising that several elite clubs are chasing his signature.
The Lille wonderkid is just 18 years old and he has been a regular alongside Alexsandro Ribeiro at centre-back for Los Dogues this campaign.
Yoro has racked up 18 appearances so far this season and interested parties will no doubt have noted that for a centre-back - he has a very good eye for goal. The France U21 international has scored three goals in all competitions in 2023-24, proving he’s a real threat at attacking set-pieces.
Furthermore, he is a calm and composed ball-player and his defensive nous is excellent for someone still in their teenage years.
Yoro has been compared to former St Etienne duo William Saliba and Wesley Fofana - who now play for Arsenal and Chelsea respectively - while he is considered to be the next great French centre-back.
As a result, it’s not at all surprising that Premier League clubs have already identified the Lille star as a transfer target, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool all interested, as per reports.
In fact, French outlet Le10Sport have reported that Man Utd and Man City have both initiated contact with Yoro as they look to beat the competition to his signature.
However, while there is significant interest from the biggest clubs in the Premier League, Paris Saint-Germain are also keen as they look to pinch another French wonderkid from another Ligue 1 club.
This summer, they signed Bradley Barcola from Olympique Lyonnais, and Kylian Mbappe famously joined the Parisians in a sensational move from AS Monaco.
Which club should Leny Yoro join?
Although there is heavy interest from across the continent, Yoro’s best option is, in fact, to join PSG.
That is according to data analytics experts SciSports and their ‘Career Advice’ tool.
PSG rank as Yoro’s best transfer option, with their ‘Club Fit Score’ standing at 81 - the highest of any club in world football.
Although Milan Skriniar moved to the Parc des Princes this summer, Marquinhos is ageing, while Presnel Kimpembe hasn’t featured this season due to another Achilles injury.
As a result, there would be space for Yoro to play regularly at PSG and become a mainstay in Luis Enrique’s starting XI.
Leny Yoro's best transfer options
Club | Club Fit Score |
---|---|
1. PSG | 81 |
= Dortmund | 81 |
3. Lazio | 80 |
4. Napoli | 79 |
5. Milan | 78 |
10. Liverpool | 77 |
27. Man Utd | 74 |
43. Chelsea | 71 |
Borussia Dortmund would also be a very sensible destination for Yoro, given their history of developing young players into world-beaters, and he could replace Mats Hummels as Nico Schlotterbeck’s long-term partner.
Serie A trio Lazio, Napoli and Milan are rated as great options for the Lille star by SciSports, while Liverpool could be a good move following Joel Matip’s season-ending injury.
A move to Man Utd or Chelsea, both of whom are interested in signing Yoro, makes little sense for the 18-year-old given their issues on the pitch recently. Furthermore, Chelsea have a plethora of centre-backs at the club and Yoro would find it hard to be rewarded with regular first-team minutes at Stamford Bridge.
