Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Levia has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Fluminense star Andre following heavy transfer interest from the Reds.

Andre, 22, has attracted the attention of European clubs following an impressive campaign in his native Brazil, and Liverpool aren’t the only club scouting him.

In November, FootballTransfers reported that Fulham are currently leading the race to sign Andre, while Manchester United are also interested in his services as they look to sign a long-term replacement for the ageing Casemiro.

Although there have been significant reports suggesting that Liverpool are in the hunt to land the Brazilian too, we have been told that Klopp’s side are not pursuing a deal as things stand.

Furthermore, Man Utd are also interested in Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves and a move for Andre will only happen if Casemiro leaves the club, which is unlikely at this stage.

Sources have informed us that Fulham have contacted Andre regarding a possible transfer, but a deal is not complete and several other Premier League teams may move for the 22-year-old before the January transfer window closes.

However, although we understand Liverpool aren’t currently in the running to sign Andre, former Reds star Lucas Leiva believes his countryman would be an excellent signing for the Anfield club.

What has been said?

Lucas, who made 346 appearances during a 10-year career at Liverpool, appeared on the Aldo Meets Podcast and admitted: “He’s a very good player. I would say he’s the new modern number six you know. He’s not very big but he’s very strong.

“He just won the Copa Libertadores for Fluminense, a fantastic talent, he could be a good addition of course for Liverpool because it’s a position that’s really important to the team.

“You never know how these boys will do. I’m always very careful because I know how difficult it is to come from Brazil, he’s a fantastic player, but it depends now if the club and manager feel that his way of playing would fit the way Liverpool plays.”
