Jamal Musiala has insisted that Bayern Munich’s trip to Old Trafford provides the club with “a good opportunity to get our confidence back” after their humiliating 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Goals from Omar Marmoush, Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe (x2), Hugo Larsson and Ansgar Knauff condemned Bayern to their first league defeat of the season, which leaves them four points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race.

Despite already sealing qualification to the last-16 and top spot in Group A, Bayern are now set to play a very crucial role in determining who else joins them in the Champions League knockout stages.

In order to qualify, Manchester United must beat the German champions on Tuesday night and hope that Copenhagen vs Galatasaray ends in a draw. If either scenario doesn’t happen, then Erik ten Hag’s side will be knocked out.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils, Musiala has revealed that Bayern are not taking the game lightly, despite the fact they have already booked their place in the round of 16.

What has been said?

“That defeat against Frankfurt, it surprised us, but we are going to look ahead and this presents us with a good opportunity to get our confidence back,” Musiala said, as per ESPN.

“I think no matter who we play we always want to win. We want to keep our unbeaten streak in the Champions League group stages and want to keep our rhythm going into the winter break, so it's a very important game for us. We will go out and try to win.

He continued: “United lost their last game, they have had their ups and downs this season but they have lots of quality and they are a dangerous team who can hurt us.

“We won't underestimate them. They can score many goals, they have lots of quality if they are playing well and with confidence they are tough to beat.”

Man Utd have netted 12 goals in the group stage so far (more than Bayern) but they have conceded 14 times, which is the second-most of any club in the competition so far this campaign - only Royal Antwerp have conceded more (15).
