Man Utd target Bundesliga trio as Romano RULES OUT move for La Liga star
Manchester United’s hunt for a new striker has seen them land on three names, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are pursuing several January transfer window targets after a poor start to the season has seen them lose 13 games already this term.
Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund may have netted five goals in the Champions League group stage, but the former Atalanta man is yet to register his first Premier League goal, despite making 14 appearances in the competition.
The blame for his goal-drought in the English top flight isn’t entirely his fault, however. Alejandro Garnacho and Antony have been Erik ten Hag’s favoured wingers in recent weeks, yet they have only passed the ball to Hojlund a combined 11 times this campaign.
He isn’t getting the service required and Man Utd aren’t ready to give up on the €75 million star just yet, as per Romano.
While the Red Devils are looking to sign a new forward, any arrival will not directly replace Hojlund and will instead join the club as a back-up to the Denmark international.
Man Utd want a new striker in January - Fabrizio Romano
Speaking to Caught Offside, Romano revealed: “I haven’t heard anything regarding a Man United move for Youssef En-Nesyri as of now. Names I’ve mentioned in the past are Donyell Malen, Serhou Guirassy and Timo Werner because I’m aware that Man United spoke to their representatives.
“I’m also sure the race is still open and nothing has been decided. I do see Man United signing a backup striker, but this doesn’t change their trust in Rasmus Hojlund for the present and future.”
En-Nesyri has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days, but Romano has ruled out a pursuit for now, with Bundesliga trio Malen, Guirassy and Werner all being pursued instead.
