Manchester United are reportedly in talks with VfB Stuttgart's prolific striker Serhou Guirassy, who has an absurdly low release clause…

Guirassy has hit 16 goals from just 11 Bundesliga games this season - only nine of them starts - and led Bayern Munich's Harry Kane in the top scorer race before sustaining a hamstring injury last month.

But it has emerged that the Guinean has a release clause of just €17.5 million, and Manchester United are among a number of European clubs queuing up to sign the prolific striker at a knock-down price.

"Manchester United are IN TALKS with Serhou Guirassy's agent about a January deal!" Tweeted the Manchester United Transfer News Hub @mufcMPB, referencing CDS. "AC Milan are also pushing."

Such reports have also been verified by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano and SportBild's Head of Football Christian Falk.

United's striker problems

Guirassy is currently fourth in the race for the European Golden Shoe, and has claimed his 16 goals from an xG of just 10.3, making him statistically one of the most ruthless finishers across the continent.

His position is certainly one United will feel they need to address, with Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford making for two of the most profligate players in the Premier League this season.

Rashford has scored 2.7 less goals than would have been expected in the English top flight, while Hojlund - a €75 million summer arrival from Atalanta - is down 2.5, and yet to open. His account domestically.

He has scored five goals in five Champions League outings however, so there is optimism that there is a prolific striker to be had in the young Dane.

He and Guirassy could get in each other's way at the point of Erik ten Hag's 4-2-3-1, but with the Stuttgart man costing so little, it would make little impact in financial terms if he didn't work out at Old Trafford.
