Man Utd activate Plan B as Guirassy prefers Premier League rivals
Manchester United have been forced to revise their January transfer plans with the news that Serhou Guirassy would prefer to move to Tottenham.
Guirassy has enjoyed a prolific start to the season with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga and had appeared at the top of Man Utd’s transfer shortlist for January.
Working on a tight budget, the 27-year-old former Rennes striker appeared an ideal option for the Red Devils because of a low release clause.
According to The Sun, Guirassy would prefer to be Harry Kane’s replacement at Tottenham, who are another of a myriad of Premier League teams chasing a No.9 in 2024.
This has forced Man Utd to come up with alternative solutions in the transfer market.
En-Nesyri to Man Utd
Man Utd are seeking to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri as their alternative to Guirassy, with the Old Trafford club expected to play in the region of €18 million for the Morocco international striker.
United scouts are said to have watched the player in Saturday’s LaLiga encounter against Atletico Madrid.
A pure centre-forward, the 26-year-old has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €21m after scoring nine goals in 24 matches this season with a struggling Sevilla side. He has scored five times in LaLiga and also netted twice in the Andalusians’ failed Champions League campaign that saw them crash out of Europe entirely.
Under contract until 2025, Sevilla could be forced to sell En-Nesyri due to the chronic financial difficulties that the club finds itself in.
Los Rojiblancos have already sacked two coaches this season and are set to cut costs by making January sales.
Man Utd could profit from the situation by capturing En-Neysri, who fits the mould of a goal-scoring centre-forward that manager Erik ten Hag is seeking in the next transfer window.
