Chelsea fans have revealed they would be open to the club signing Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson in January as a short-term solution to their goal-scoring woes.

The Blues have netted 35 times in 21 Premier League matches so far this season and regular number nine Nicolas Jackson has been regularly criticised for the number of big chances he has missed.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is Chelsea’s preferred striker target, although the Nigerian is extremely unlikely to leave Serie A mid-season and a move will have to wait until the summer.

Viktor Gyokeres, Ivan Toney, Santiago Gimenez and Victor Boniface have all been touted as alternatives, but Chelsea have seemingly narrowed their focus to Osimhen.

However, several Blues fans have expressed their desire to sign Wilson on a short-term deal following reports that he may leave Newcastle.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that the England international will not be joining AC Milan or Atletico Madrid, despite recent links. He posted on X: “Callum Wilson won’t join AC Milan as their focus is on different positions with Giroud, Okafor and Jović doing very well.

“Atlético Madrid will go for Moise Kean and not for Callum Wilson.”

Chelsea fans want to sign Callum Wilson?

In response to Romano’s post, notable Chelsea fan account @Blue_Footy asked its followers whether signing Wilson would be a good idea for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The majority of responses deemed that adding the 32-year-old would be welcomed by the fanbase.

“Callum is a goal scorer always hungry for a goal, will take him,” one fan replied, while another added: “Why not, he’s Premier league proven, would definitely be a better option up front than Broja.”

A third supporter wrote: “Callum will fit into that Chelsea attack as we are creating many chances and he will score as many goals.”

Some fans were doubtful about signing Wilson given his recent injury record, but most were in agreement that adding him to the Chelsea squad would be a shrewd signing.

Wilson has scored seven goals in 14 Premier League appearances this season (seven starts).
