Chelsea youngster unlocks surprise Everton transfer
Chelsea youngster Diego Moreira is set to be recalled from his failed loan spell at Ligue 1 club Lyon.
The Portuguese winger joined the Blues on a free transfer from Benfica last summer, and he made his Chelsea debut against AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup back in August.
However, Moreira moved to Lyon on loan just two days later as Chelsea felt he was not ready for regular minutes in the first-team and would be better served developing in France.
Six months later and they are set to recall the 19-year-old after a disastrous six months in Ligue 1, as per Fabrice Hawkins.
Moreira has made 10 appearances for Lyon (five starts), but he’s failed to score or assist for the club and is evidently not in favour. As a result, Chelsea’s decision to recall him is likely the correct one.
There is an issue, however. Moreira is ineligible to join another club on loan due to the fact he has played for both Chelsea and Lyon this season.
Players are only allowed to play for two clubs in a single domestic campaign, meaning the Portuguese teenager will join up with Chelsea’s U21 side for the rest of the year.
Arnaut Danjuma to join Lyon
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Lyon will terminate Moreira’s loan deal in order to sign Arnaut Danjuma.
The Dutch winger is currently on loan at Everton from Villarreal, but he is set to leave Goodison Park in order to join Lyon. Pierre Sage’s side will sign Danjuma on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for €15 million, according to French media.
Danjuma has two goals in 18 appearances for Everton this season, although he has only started four Premier League games, with Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison often preferred by Sean Dyche.
