Man Utd to PAY Sancho £5m to join Dortmund
Manchester United’s desire to get Jadon Sancho off their books has been underlined by the fact that they will pay the England winger £5 million to complete his loan transfer to Borussia Dortmund.
Reports in Germany indicate that a deal is in place for Sancho to leave for the next six months, with Dortmund having agreed to a temporary transfer that is said to be heavily subsidised by the Red Devils.
That has been underlined by the fact that Man Utd will pay well over half of Sancho’s wages while he is playing with the Bundesliga side.
How much of Sancho’s wage are Man Utd paying at Dortmund?
Man Utd will pay around £5m of Sancho’s wages while he is on loan at Dortmund, with the package that the Bundesliga outfit are poised to pay is said to be worth £2.6m all in.
Sancho earns an estimated £300,000 per week at Old Trafford, which is a figure that BVB could get nowhere near. Over the course of six months until the end of June, his translates to £7.8m. When the Bundesliga side’s contribution to his wages is subtracted from this figure, that leaves a £5.2m shortfall that United are covering.
For Man Utd, though, this deal makes financial sense.
Sancho is doing nothing at Old Trafford while he is exiled from the first team. Paying him £5m to play in Germany makes more sense than footing a bill closer to £8m just to see his value depreciate.
United will be the ultimate winners if Sancho succeeds at Dortmund, too. A permanent return is not on the cards, and if the player thrives while back in Germany, the Red Devils can profit in the summer when they can either sell him on or utilise him in the first team.
Sancho’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has collapsed under Erik ten Hag from €109m to €39m, and the idea is to see that figure start to climb once again. There is every chance that the England winger’s value will have increased more than £5m by the end of the season to more than cover the gap in his wages.
