Cristiano Ronaldo has mocked Manchester United for their decision to release him after a brilliant first year at Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo had his contract at Man Utd rescinded in November 2022 in the week leading up to the World Cup.

This came about after Ronaldo blasted Man Utd in an interview with Piers Morgan, accusing the club and key figures of betraying him and trying to force him out.

He slammed Ten Hag, former boss Ralf Rangnick, owners The Glazers and club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.

The interview proved to be the final straw for the club after months of indiscipline and controversy surrounding Ronaldo and his behaviour.

He eventually joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr on a free transfer in January 2023.

The last year has been a successful one for Ronaldo, who scored 52 goals in all competitions across 2023, more than anyone in Europe’s big five leagues.

Man Utd, meanwhile, have been a disaster this season - enduring their worst campaign in decades.

What did Ronaldo say?

"If you go back and see what happened at Manchester United and the national team, people actually considered me lost,” Ronaldo told Record.

"But the truth is that I focused and had a great period at Al Nassr, that's why I scored 54 goals.”

Ronaldo also commented on his future and if he is considering to retire soon given he turns 39 in a fortnight.

“As I often tell my friends, life is dynamic. Tomorrow is uncertain. I could end my career at the end of this season, or I could play for another two or three years... I don't know, to be honest.

“As long as my mind and body are in good condition, and I enjoy playing football, I will continue. When I feel that I am no longer useful, I will be the first to take that step.

“Right now, I feel in a good state, and I experience satisfaction and happiness on the field, whether in the national team or at the club. I continue and enjoy.”
