Man Utd told to pay €90m for Premier League ace
Manchester United are willing to spend €70 million on Eberechi Eze, but Crystal Palace are holding out for €90m as they seek to retain their star man, according to reports.
Eze, 25, only has three goals and one assist in 15 Premier League appearances this season, however Man Utd are said to be keen on landing the English midfielder.
Their arch-rivals Manchester City were also interested in signing Eze last summer before they purchased Matheus Nunes from Wolves, but Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t been linked with a move for several months.
However, Man Utd are still big admirers of Eze and the Red Devils are willing to spend €70m on him, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Despite the fact that Eze’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at just €37.5m, Crystal Palace believe he is worth €90m and are not willing to offload him for anything less.
As a result, Eze could enter the list of Man Utd’s top three most expensive signings of all time if he moves to Old Trafford.
Where would Eberechi Eze fit in at Man Utd?
Man Utd’s pursuit of Eze doesn’t make much sense considering Mason Mount’s arrival last summer.
The former England international has struggled immensely since joining the club from Chelsea, with injury issues plaguing his start to life at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes remains Man Utd’s best attacking midfielder and Eze may become a full-time left winger if he were to join Erik ten Hag’s side as a result.
Man Utd spent too much money on Mount (€64.2m) to disregard him after just six months, meaning Eze may be viewed as a left winger by Ten Hag.
Marcus Rashford is deadly on his day, but the England international has endured a mixed start to the 2023-24 season and could even be used as an alternative to Rasmus Hojlund through the middle.
Eze is a fantastic player and one who possesses bundles of quality from the centre of the pitch, but Man Utd’s current options at No.10 mean he could be used as a winger if the Red Devils decide to match Crystal Palace’s asking price.
